Rhode Island's First

Shri’s elevated design aesthetic is mission centric.

Occupying more than 2,500 square feet of 390 Pine Street, every detail from the thoughtfully chosen vintage furniture to the salvaged doors, original art and changing suites support our belief that space should lift you up and inspire you.

WHERE DESIGN

Meets Intentionality

Interior of a modern space with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, black ceiling, hanging lights, a window, a reception desk with a laptop, and a large black and white collage featuring a pink neon sign that reads "Skate".

As you enter our lobby, we invite you to reflect on the history of our building, which dates back to the late 1800s.

This is where administrators generated payroll for the larger thread manufacturing mill complex during America’s Industrial Revolution.

Honoring the mill’s rich past, we kept original brick walls exposed, repurposed safes and restored furniture that was discovered during the demolition of our renovation.

We also installed brand new, hand-cut herringbone floors to soften the industrial space in our lobby, and we salvaged historic doors throughout as well.

Everything in our uncluttered space has been preserved with purpose.

A cozy cafe with a wooden table and chairs, a vase of branches in the foreground, and a window view of a wall decorated with a collage of black and white photos and a bright pink neon sign that says 'Shri.'

Adjacent to the lobby, our boardroom holds a fascinating history of its own. Once a walk-in safe, it has been transformed into a secure meeting space not only for our Shri admin team and board members, but also for other nonprofits in the building. It stands as a reminder that our mission extends beyond our own yoga programs. We are all about community collaboration in the spirit of social enterprise.

A vintage metal safe with a sign on top advertising a ribbon cutting event for Shri, scheduled for Monday, August 28th at 11 am at 390 Pine Street, Peachtuckett. The safe is placed against a white brick wall in a modern interior space, with a bouquet of light-colored hydrangea flowers in a glass vase on the floor beside it.

Lots of Light

A painting of a white heron standing on a wooden post with a weathered sign that reads "END." The heron has long legs and a slender neck, set against a cloudy sky background with dynamic light. The gallery space has exposed brick walls, a wooden floor, and a window with sunlight casting shadows on the wall.

Once boarded up and bricked in, our studios are now drenched in natural light. Brand new windows, made by local manufacturers, have transformed our studio spaces to support our classes. And art is always coming and going. With time, art will change to support Shri’s nonprofit mission of sustaining free yoga outreach with events and exhibitions.

Brand new windows, made in Rhode Island, have been customized for our historic site.

All new heating and cooling systems allow for high air quality in the studio.

A sound proof, adjustable wall divider allows us to operate two classes at once.

An Artful Blend of Elegance & History

View of a staircase looking down at a wall decorated with vintage-style artwork including a black and white portrait of a man with a beard, a painting of a factory, and an art piece of a car. The wall also has a yellow sign with the text 'J&P Cats Best Six Cord Spool Cotton Machine.' The staircase has wooden steps and black railings, leading to a wooden floor and a black door. There is a fire extinguisher on the left side near the wall.

During our building’s renovation, we repurposed many pieces we found from the mill's original structure and set them up in what we call our mini museum on the first floor.

Sewing machines, scrolls, historical pictures and other artifacts are now available for everyone to see.
