Shri’s Signature Projects

Since 2010, Shri has brought yoga outreach programs to thousands of students in New England

Signature Projects Include

The Shri Adaptive Project

Provides challenging, yet compassionate yoga classes for men and women with developmental and intellectual disabilities. In 2014, the Project expanded to offer in-studio work opportunities for Adaptive Project participants, and encourages participation in our "traditional" yoga classes alongside the public.  This project began in 2011.

The Shri School Project

Offers 40-50 minute yoga and character-building classes in physical education, other periods during the school day, or after school. Participants learn basic yoga postures, breathing techniques, mindfulness activities, and the importance of community and compassion.  This project began in 2011.

The Shri Yoga + Smart Snacking Project

Combines Shri Yoga classes before, during and after the school day with nutritional education and nut-free Shri Bark snacks.  These classes began in 2015 with funding from Blue Cross Blue Shield RI and with the enthusiastic support of the Rhode Island Healthy School Coalition.  Since then, Shri Snacks are part of the state's "Breakfast in the Classroom" program.

The Shri Recovery Project

Partners with recovery centers focused on behavioral health. The project offers free yoga classes and events to members of our recovery community helping participants focus on decreasing anxiety through meditation, breath work and classical yoga postures.  This project began in late 2010, and our Tuesday night class is also open to the public supporting our mission of inclusive yoga outreach.

The Shri Military Project

Offers free classes for local veterans and active military personnel to decrease anxiety and to address specific physical and emotion stressors stored in the body through breath work and Yoga Nidra (yoga sleep).  This project is supported by state grants and is incorporated inside the state's new wellness center at the VA as well.

The Shri Shelter and Senior Projects

Provide yoga classes (both in and out of chairs) to women and children in shelters, and also to seniors, focusing on meditation, breath work and classical yoga postures. The use of mantras and song facilitate a relaxing and peaceful environment for space, healing and community.

The Shri Hospital Project

Works with hospitals (for adults and children), free clinics and other health centers to provide yoga classes for patients, families and caregivers in need of balance.  Shri has also participated in a medical study with Hasbro Children's Hospital Eating Disorder Unit.
